My son loves to be a boyscout (cubscout actually, but… being Webelos II and looking to get to boyscouts next year he could be considered a boyscout already, right
) So I usually spend Fri nights with scouts of Pack 106. And watching the efforts our Den leaders put to work with kids I realize that they actually are just parents like me. And they are tired after working a whole week, and would probably prefer to stay home and watch TV or relax in nay other way….
So I thought that taking their headshots to put them on our Pack web-site could be some way of showing appreciation. So I did it last week. Unfortunately not all leaders were there so hopefully we will continue in the new year.
And it was great fun though

What can be better than to meet lovely autumn morning in Central Park? We started a headshot/portrait session at 7.30am with the actor Joseph Beuerlein when the sun was still behind skyscrapers. And we were watching as it goes upper and coloring the trees and waking up the park.

It was just wonderful weather today and I had a great on-location outdoor photo session with gorgeous Maristella. She is a singer and song-writer, I found her voice charming – you may check it on her web-site.
We worked on her promotional photographs during the session and regular headshots as well. Easy job considering that fact that she was posing for the portraits so professionally as if she spent whole life in front of photo camera

It was amazing to find old communication system still working and in use. As well as in-wall Mail delivery system (just don’t know how they call it) – it’s really old copper/bronze thing, looks fantastic.
I was photographing there one bedroom apartment designed to be convenient and cozy. A lot of nice elements and details make the spirit of the place.

Besides Anthony was just great – I can recommend him as a model absolutely. He is ready to work, very professional and knows what to do…

Cool news from Blurb.com – now they allow to make books previews of more than 15 pages! So please check out my photography book an Halloween Parade here
New York’s Village …
By Alex Kotlik
It’s very useful to have the opportunity to show some most important pages in the book which not necessary are the first 15 pages
And moreover you may allow the full preview of the book…

Just to recall how it was back in 2007 and what was the difference between parades of 2007 and 2008
In 2007 it was more about election on the one hand but more fun an less economic-pain-related on the other hand…

“New York’s Village Halloween Parade is an annual holiday parade and street pageant presented the night of every Halloween (October 31) in New York City’s Greenwich Village. Stretching more than a mile, this cultural event draws two million spectators, fifty thousand costumed participants, dancers, artists and circus performers, dozens of floats bearing live bands and other musical and performing acts, and a world-wide television audience of one hundred million.
It is the largest public Halloween event in the United States, and the country’s only major night parade. It has been called “New York’s Carnival.”

It was just a test of new Canon EOS 50D test with a direct in-camera flash.
Pretty cool for direct burning light. My son survived it too

Portrait photograph of a boy
Few features I love most about this camera:
- pretty good ISO, very good for photojournalism (I was suffering badly while photographed ballet backstage with my Canon 5D – can’t use more than 1200ISO for color);
- it’s quite fast – 6 fps gives much more freedom photographing in fast-pacing conditions like street-life or live performance photography (maybe not enough for sport photography though);
- in-camera sensor-cleaning! I hate my 5D because I can’t clean it’s sensor enough to shoot over f18 – there are more visible dust on it than details of picture
Overall it feels much faster than old 5D. But I’ll continue to use old guy until I grab one of Canon 5D Mark II because I need full-frame very often. And I can’t complain about quality of pictures from it in most cases.

Amir was just an excellent model! He is not an actor but he was absolutely photogenic and didn’t need any direction for posing at all…

Every year, in cities around the world, people ride bikes naked to celebrate cycling and the human body.
The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against car culture.
“It’s time to put a stop to the indecent exposure of people and the planet to cars and the pollution they create. We face automobile traffic with our naked bodies as the best way of defending our dignity and exposing the vulnerability faced by cyclists and pedestrians on our streets as well as the negative consequences we all face due to dependence on oil, and other forms of non-renewable energy. ”
